In a show of hands,
Who has said these words before?
And a show of hearts on the floor,
Who has ever meant them more?

“Hailey, it meant nothing!” I yelled throwing my hands in the air.
“Derrick, how the hell can you say that?! I saw you two!” She yelled back, tears streaming down her face.
“Because I love you!” I yelled back.

And watch me spin circles as I disappear
And hearts, they don't lie, they just quiver in fear
As you say

“What a way to show it, Derrick.” She said and turned away and headed toward the room. I followed and watched her actions.
“What are you doing?” I asked from the door.
“Leaving.” She said. My breathing stopped.
“Hailey, baby. I’m sorry.” I said walking up to her and took a hold of her shoulder to make her look at me.
“Well, it’s a little too late for that.” She said and shrugged off my hands.

Tonight we forget everything
And we stay the night
If I was wrong then I'm sorry

I watched her grab the handle to her suitcase and turn around to face me.
“Baby, don’t do this, just stay here with me. I need you.” I pleaded.
“Why don’t you go tell that to the girl you made out with?” She shot back.
“Oh my, God. I know what I did was wrong. Can you just forgive me?” I asked, dreading her next words.
“No, I can’t Derrick. You used up your last chance.” She said walking past me.

I'll stop this fight
For the night
And this empty space left in the seat
To my right where you should be says a lot

I followed her to the door. I’m not letting her go without a fight.
“Hales, I promise, just one more chance. It won’t ever happen again, I swear.” I cried out. Tears stung at the back of my eyes.
“I’m sorry, Derrick.” She said grabbing the door knob.

Don't let it say goodbye
Don't let it say goodbye
Let it say goodbye

“Hailey, don’t go.” I said jumping in front of the door. “I love you, I really do. I don’t know why I kissed her. I am not going to feed you some stupid lie, I’m telling you that I was stupid and kissed her and I am sorry.” I said, tears falling down my face.
“Sorry doesn’t heal the pain that kiss that wasn’t on my lips has caused, Derrick. You don’t understand, it hurts more to hear you plead me to stay but I know I am doing the right thing.” She said, her voice cracking from the tears.

Forget everything
And we stay the night
If I was wrong then I'm sorry

“Just let me leave, Derrick. Please.” She cried. I can’t stay here and break her heart more.
“Okay, but always know that I love you, no matter what.” I said and moved away from the door, my arm touching her for the last time. No! it wasn’t the last time I was going to touch her.

I'll stop this fight
For the night
And this empty space left in the seat
To my right where you should be says a lot

“Thank you.” She said and walked out of my apartment. I watched her descend down the hallway. With each step she took, the more my heart broke. She left me here cold and hurt. I let her go broken hearted and hurt. As bad as I didn’t want to believe it, I knew today was the last time I would ever see her. I closed the door and slid down the door. The tears never stopping.

That today I know
that tomorrow will shine again golden
And bring our hearts back home
And today I know
that tomorrow will shine again golden
And bring our hearts back home

I lay in bed and look to my right. All I want to see is her smiling face. I let her down and I won’t ever forgive myself. I will love her no matter what. Tomorrow is a new day and I only hope I will get to hold her one last time.

And today I know)
And today meant nothing
(that tomorrow will shine again golden)
Cause you're gone
And I swear then this meant everything to me
(And bring our hearts back home)
Because my heart's not home
(And today I know)
And today meant nothing
(that tomorrow will shine again golden)
Cause you're gone
And I swear then this meant everything to me
(And bring our hearts back home)
Because my heart's not home
